Maple Class’ topic is ‘Cool Britannia’, an exploration of the country we live in. A lot of our learning is based around exploring Great Britain.

We have been looking at nonsense poems for the past few weeks; Michael Rosen is a wonderful poet and storyteller of nonsense. This week he came home after being in hospital with Covid19 – Hooray!

Spelling
- First, try to find the words in the wordsearch. (This week I have checked it!)
- Pick 10 words from the wordsearch and write a short story that uses them as much as you can
- Select a different 10 words from the wordsearch and draw and label a picture to illustrate each one or several at the same time.
Writing
- This week I would like you to work through the Talk For Writing booklet, ‘Journey to the Jungle’
- Talk for writing is intended to be done as a conversation between an adult and a child, with some of the activities being completed independently.
- Read through the story and choose the activities you would like to complete
Maths: We are nearly at the end of year 3. It has been a very strange year and we have not done everything in maths that we might have done. This week I would like you to have a go at an ‘End of Year Maths Assessment’. But there some really important things I would like you to know before you do it:
- DO NOT PANIC!!! We have not learned about everything in the test, because of lockdown
- DON’T TRY TO DO IT ALL AT ONCE!! I would probably ask you to do it over about 3 days in school, but it might take you longer.
- DO NOT PANIC! I really mean it! Don’t worry if you find some of the questions tricky and you can’t do them; it’s probably because we did not take long enough learning about that part in school.
- Complete the Maths Self-Assessment sheet.
- Tell me how you did and tell me what you think. It would be very useful to know what parts of this year’s maths you found easy and which parts you found harder. You could send an email or send a picture of your sheet.
- TRY YOUR BEST AND HAVE A GO!
Wider Curriculum
- Pick activities of your choice from Home Learning Matrix.
