We are proud to be developing our School Climate Action Plan — a clear and practical strategy for how we, as a school community, will reduce our environmental impact and build a more sustainable future.

What is a Climate Action Plan?

A Climate Action Plan sets out how we aim to:

• Reduce our carbon footprint

• Make better use of resources

• Teach our children about sustainability and climate change

• Involve the whole school community in caring for our planet

Our plan is guided by the Department for Education’s Sustainability and Climate Change Strategy and shaped by our pupils, staff, families, and governors.

Our Key Climate Action Areas

Our Climate Action Plan focuses on:

• Energy: Reducing electricity and heating usage through smarter choices and systems

• Waste: Cutting down on waste and improving recycling across the school

• Travel: Encouraging families to walk, cycle or use ‘park and stride’ options

• Biodiversity: Creating wildlife-friendly outdoor learning spaces, eg. bug hotels, hedgehog corridors, and wildflower patches

• Curriculum: Building sustainability into learning across subjects and year groups

• Pupil Leadership: Empowering our Eco-Council and School Council to lead meaningful initiatives

Why It Matters

By making sustainability part of everyday school life, we’re helping children develop a deep sense of responsibility, hope, and action. We want our pupils to believe they can make a difference – and to feel proud of doing so.

This work aligns with our Christian vision and values, nurturing courageous, compassionate learners who care for the world and those around them.
