Dear Parents and Carers,

We are delighted to welcome you and your child to Acorn Class this September. The adults working with your child will be Miss Evans, Mrs Thompsett, Miss Burkinshaw and Miss Allee. We are very excited to get to know your children and begin their learning journey at school.

Topic

Our first topic will be “All About Me”, where children will be learning about themselves, their families, and where they come from. This topic will weave into many areas of learning such as Drawing Club, Understanding the World, Art and Design, Communication and Language, and Personal, Social and Emotional Development.

PE

PE lessons will be on Wednesdays and Fridays.

For the first two terms, we ask that children come to school wearing their PE kit on these days. From Term 3 onwards, your child will need a full PE kit kept in school for them to change into. Please see the attached picture for the full PE kit list.

Reading Books and Library Books

Reading books and reading logs must be brought to school in your child’s folder on Tuesdays and Fridays. Books will only be changed if they are returned, and if you have read with your child at least twice and recorded this in their reading log.

On Thursdays, your child will visit the school library to choose a book to borrow. Please make sure the library book is in your child’s book bag on Thursday, otherwise they will not be able to take out a new one.

Welcome Wednesdays

Every Wednesday morning from 8:30–9:00, we invite you to join your child in the classroom. After signing in at the office, you will be able to look at our class floor book (to see what your child has been learning) or enjoy reading a story together.

We are looking forward to an exciting and successful year with your children, filled with learning, friendships, and fun.
