Term 4 Week 6

What Lilac Class will be doing for the wb. 29.3.21

What we are doing this week in Lilac Class

WB: 29.3.21

In Maths this week in Lilac Class, we are continuing with our work about equivalent fractions using models, concrete representations and the abstract method. We will be investigating the following questions: ‘How does multiplication and division help us find equivalent fractions?  Where can we see this in our model and concreate representations?

In English, Lilac Class this week will draft their balanced argument exploring different points of view in the form of a letter. The subject will be the development of the railways in Victorian Britain and the impact it had on the lives of the population.

In Guided Reading, we are now coming to the end of Berlie Doherty’s ‘Street Child’, discussing our understanding of a variety of words in context and retrieving key details and quotations from the text to support our answers. Sometimes an answer can be ‘open ended’ and have many possible answers. This often occurs when we are asked to explain our opinions or why we think a character acts in a particular way.

This week we have the ‘Drama Geezers’ coming in to work with the children to complete a project linked to the title ‘The story that connects us’.  The idea is that the class will create a chapter of the story and it will be then put together.

In RE, Father John will be visiting us again to finish his talk about the Stations of the Cross.  He will be presenting his virtual tour of St Barnabas’ Church where the Stations of the Cross are hanging on the wall.  We will also be designing a ‘Responsibility Pie’ where we will be considering who was responsible for Jesus’s death.  In the frame are Pilate, Judas, The Sanhedrin, The Crowds and Jesus himself.

In DT, we will be continuing with our own Victorian Cookbooks based on the recipes of Mrs Beeton and cooking shortbread, using Mrs Beeton’s recipe.

The hard copy of our Home Learning went out on Friday 26th March and has been on the Lilac Class Blog since the 22nd of March. Please finish this and learn your spellings for the test on Thursday 1st April. Make sure that you are up to date with all your MyMaths and Purple Mash and have completed all the activities I have set you.

IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY DONE SO, PLEASE CAN YOU HAND IN YOUR VICTORIAN PROJECT. DR CHARLES WANTS TO READ THEM OVER THE EASTER HOLIDAY!
