Term 2 Week 5

Here is an outline of your learning for term 2, week 5

We have our usual Monday morning ukulele lesson with Mr Lawrence.

Spelling and grammar – we will be practising words spelled with ch that make a sh sound.  We will also be identifying adverbial phrases.

In English we be working on features of instruction writing by looking at imperative verbs, technical aspects of gladiator training and trying to write some sentences that meet all the criteria we have identified for a set of instructions.

In Maths we will continuing to work on subtraction with more than one exchange, efficient subtraction methods and checking strategies.

We are really enjoying our guided reading text, The Iron Man by Ted Hughes.  In chapter 3, he had finally fought his way out of the trap and had been led to the scrap yard to eat all the metal he wanted.  Do we think that is it for the Iron Mn now?  Let’s see……

In RE our new unit of focus is incarnation.  This week we are designing a Christmas card that reflects John’s text on incarnation.

Mrs Tompsett will be teaching Science on Thursday afternoons.  This term’s topic is electricity.

In art we will be finishing our work on Giorgio Morandi by discussing and evaluating his paintings and also looking at the ones we have produced.

In computing we will have our second session using the programme Audacity to make and edit voice recordings!

PE is on MONDAY MORNING and THURSDAY AFTERNOON and with Mr Luckhurst.

Reading records have been sent home with most children choosing a book from the selection in class.  All children have an additional book in their tray for reading sessions in class.  Please could we have reading records in school to be checked on a Wednesday morning.

Homework will be issued this Wednesday and is due in on the following Monday.

Please contact me if you have any queries using the class email address:chestnut@st-barnabas.kent.sch.uk

Have a lovely week!

Best wishes,

Mrs Barter
