Term 2 Week 4

Here is an outline of your learning for term 2 week 4.

Term 2 Week 4 – overview

 

 

We have our usual Monday morning ukulele lesson with Mr Lawrence.

 

Spelling and grammar – we will be practising words spelled with ey, eigh and ei.  We will continue to work on using pronouns.

 

In English we be working on features of instruction writing by looking at prepositions.   We will create our first set of instructions and decide what are the essential features.

 

In Maths we will continuing to work on subtraction with an exchange and our problem-solving strategies.

 

We are really enjoying our guided reading text, The Iron Man by Ted Hughes.  At the end of chapter 2, The Iron Man had been captured and buried in a deep hole.  We have been predicting if and when he will re-emerge.

 

In RE our new unit of focus is incarnation.  This week we are having Father John come to talk to us about the 4 accounts of the Gospel and the differences between them.

 

Mrs Tompsett will be teaching Science on Thursday afternoons.  This term’s topic is electricity.

 

In art we will be continuing our work on the artist Gorgio Morandi.  We have completed our own still life sketches and this week we will be painting them!

 

PE is on MONDAY MORNING and THURSDAY AFTERNOON and with Mr Luckhurst.  

 

Reading records have been sent home with most children choosing a book from the selection in class.  All children have an additional book in their tray for reading sessions in class.  Please could we have reading records in school to be checked on a Wednesday morning.  

 

Homework will be issued this Wednesday and is due in on the following Monday.
