Term 3 Week 5

Here is an outline of your learning for term 3 week 6

Term 3 Week 5 – overview

We will have our ukulele lesson as usual on Monday morning.

Spelling and grammar – we will be punctuating direct speech, looking at reported speech and moving on to extended noun phrases.

In our maths lessons we will be multiplying 3 numbers, learning about factor pairs and considering the most efficient methods of multiplication in different circumstances. We will also continue to work on fluency in times tables.

In English we will be writing the main body of our persuasive letters about plastics in the ocean.  This is bringing together the information we have gathered, the persuasive devices we have been mastering and the skill of structuring this type of letter.

We will be continuing with the next two chapters of The Boy Who Grew Dragons for whole class reading.

In RE we are continuing with our unit on Gospel.  We will be interviewing Father John about the many activities he carries out in his week and consider how he tries to create the kind of world that Jesus wanted.

In Science, we will be considering whether gas has a weight and whether it is possible to make a gas from a solid and a liquid.  The children will be creating a hypothesis and designing a test to check their initial ideas.

Last week in our topic session we began researching a different area where we can make a difference in relation to reducing our use of plastic.  Each pair of children has a different area to create a fact page about and we will then combine them into a class booklet.

PE is now on FRIDAY MORNING with Mr Luckhurst.

Reading records have been sent home with most children choosing a book from the selection in class.  All children have an additional book in their tray for reading sessions in class.  Please could we have reading records in school to be checked on a Wednesday morning.

Homework will be issued this Thursday and is due in on the following Monday.
