Term 3 Week 4

Here is an overview of your learning for term 3 week 5

Term 3 Week 5 – overview

We have our usual ukulele lesson with Mr Lawrence on Monday

Spelling and grammar – We will be learning and practising a different selection of homophones this week.  In grammar we will be moving on to using direct an punctuating it correctly.

Our maths lessons will see us learning multiplication and division facts for the 6, 7, 9, 11 and 12 times tables.

In English we will be revising the persuasive techniques we have been learning over the past few weeks.  We will then read and organise information on plastic pollution in the ocean before beginning to write our letters. Persuasive writing involves us being familiar with the argument we want to make, being able to use persuasive language devices AND being able to structure our writing correctly!

We will be continuing with chapters 8 and 9 of The Boy Who Grew Dragons for whole class reading.  We are really trying to expand our vocabulary each week by focusing on possibly unfamiliar words in our weekly chapters.

In RE we are continuing with our unit on Gospel.  We will be considering the impact of the parables we have been learning about by learning more about Christian charities and how Christians try to follow Jesus in their everyday lives.

In Science, we will be furthering our understanding of solids, liquids and gases by learning about how the particles behave, and we will also be classifying a range of items.  Some of them will be challenging!

In our topic session we will be researching ways we can help make a difference in the fight against plastic pollution.  We will tackle a range of ideas in small groups and bring all our work together to create a booklet.

We will be starting a new computing unit dedicated to online safety.  Over the course of the unit we will be covering phishing, malware, plagiarism and healthy screen-time.

We will be concluding our art project based on surface design.  We will be creating neat copies of the patterns we have been developing and adding koi to the finished design.

PE is now on FRIDAY MORNING with Mr Luckhurst.

Reading records have been sent home with most children choosing a book from the selection in class.  All children have an additional book in their tray for reading sessions in class.  Please could we have reading records in school to be checked on a Wednesday morning.

Homework will be issued this Thursday and is due in on the following Monday.
