Term 3 Week 2

Here is an outline of your learning for term 3 week 3

Term 3 Week 3 – overview

We are really looking forward to resuming ukulele lessons this week!

Spelling and grammar – We will continue to focus on spelling words ending with ‘ture’ and revising the statutory list of spellings for years 3 and 4. In grammar sessions we will be revising apostrophes for possession and contraction.

This week we have a 2 day art focus on the theme of The Wave by the Japanese artist Hokusai.  We are having a workshop with The Drama Geezers who we have worked with in the past.  In Chestnut Class we will be creating blown ink paintings of cherry blossoms.

Our maths lessons will see us learning to multiply and divide by 10 and 100.  We will also continue to work on fluency in times tables.

In English we will be identifying features of persuasive writing by reading an example of a persuasive letter.  This will prepare us to become skilled at using these techniques to write a letter about plastic pollution in the oceans.

We will be continuing with chapters 4 and 5 of The Boy Who Grew Dragons for whole class reading.

In RE we are continuing with our unit on Gospel.  We will be learning about the story of Jesus healing the leper and thinking about what it tells us about the kind of world Jesus wanted.

This week is our final ICT lesson on effective searching.

PE is on Monday afternoon with Mr Luckhurst.

Reading records have been sent home with most children choosing a book from the selection in class.  All children have an additional book in their tray for reading sessions in class.  Please could we have reading records in school to be checked on a Wednesday morning.

Homework will be issued this Thursday and is due in on the following Monday.

Please contact me if you have any queries using the class email address:
