Term 6 week 2

 

Spelling sessions this week will focus on words with the prefixes un, dis, in, re, sub, inter, super anti and auto.  This term we will be consolidating the grammar we have learned over the year and will be revisiting adverbs and prepositions.

 

In whole class guided reading we are continuing with our text ‘The Boy Who Grew Dragons’ with comprehension questions based on chapters 20 and 21

 

In English this week, we will be working on improving some features of our writing.  The children did a self-review of their story writing and highlighted some areas that they still found challenging.  We will be turning cartoon strips into dialogue to improve our use of direct speech.  We will also be working on our proof-reading skills.

 

In Maths, we continue with fractions.  We will be subtracting from whole amounts and finding fractions of an amount.  In addition, we will be trying to beat our personal times tables targets using Hit the Button.

 

In RE we will continue to learn about aspects of Hindu belief and looking at some of the most popular deities.

 

In science we will be thinking about how animals are grouped and classified.
