Term 6 Week 1

Here is an outline of your learning for term 6, week 1

Term 6 week 1

Spelling sessions this week will focus on words with the suffix -ous.  This term we will be consolidating the grammar we have learned over the year and will be revisiting determiners and co-ordinating conjunctions.

In whole class guided reading we are continuing with our text ‘The Boy Who Grew Dragons’.

Our first English session this week will give us the chance to share our amazing hero myths.  They have all been made into books with laminated covers and will have pride of place in our reading area.  The children will also review their experiences as authors and reflect on improvements they have made to their writing.  We will also be having some focused sessions on setting out direct speech which has proved challenging.

In maths, we will be carrying out an investigation using our knowledge of adding fractions and seeing whether we can use a systematic approach.  We will then be moving on to subtracting fractions.  In addition, we will be trying to beat our personal times tables targets using Hit the Button.

In RE we will continue to learn about aspects of Hindu belief and looking at some of the most popular deities.

In science we will be thinking about how animals are grouped and classified.

We will be moving on to Logo programming in ICT, following on from the fun we have had learning how to use animation techniques in Purple Mash.
