Term 5 Week 6

Here is an outline for your learning in term 5, week 6

Term 5 week 6

Spelling sessions this week will focus on words from the statutory year 3 and 4 spelling list. In grammar sessions we be working on using speech in paragraphs.  When writing their hero myths, the children used quite a bit of dialogue and we need a little refresher on how to set out direct speech correctly.

In whole class guided reading we are continuing with our text ‘The Boy Who Grew Dragons’.

Now we have finished our incredible hero myths, we need to do some final editing before we get to the fun part of making them into books!  We will be copying them up neatly in pen, designing book covers and publishing them so that we can have them in our reading area!  I am so proud of the enthusiasm they have ALL shown for this writing project.

In maths, we will continue working on counting in fractions and then move on to adding 2 or more fractions with the same denominator.  In addition, we will be trying to beat our personal times tables targets using Hit the Button.

In RE we will continue to learn about aspects of Hindu belief such as Brahman, Atman and reincarnation.

In science we will be learning about food chains and using terms such as ‘producer’, ‘primary consumer’, ‘secondary consumer’ and ‘tertiary consumer’.   We will be organising ourselves into food chains, but please be assured that no one will be consumed in the process!
