Term 4 Week 6

Here is an outline of your learning for term 4 week 6

Term 4  Week 6 - overview

Spelling and grammar - We will be revising spellings from the year 3 and 4 statutory list.  We will use a range of strategies to do this including the very popular spelling lolly sticks and word mats.  We will also focus on words ending with the suffixes -ture, -sure and -cher.

We will also continue to study Macbeth and continue with our character profiles.  We are going to be using the character studies to create a letter from one key figure to another.  We will be brainstorming our understanding of their attitudes and attributes to help us write ‘in character’.

We will be continuing our whole class guided reading of The Boy Who Grew Dragons - we are all enjoying this text.  We will also look over the reading assessment we did last week in order to help us cement our comprehension skills.

We continue with division this week, moving from dividing 2 digits by 1, to 3 or more digits.  Times table fluency is key to understanding division and children will continue to work on this in school.  It is very important that they practise these skills ‘little and often’ as home to ensure they are embedded.

In RE we will be working on the Salvation unit and considering the question of why Christians call the day Jesus died, Good Friday.  We will be analysing text from the 4 accounts of the Gospel and looking for references to key events from Maundy Thursday.   We will be reflecting on how those events are present in the celebration of Maundy Thursday in Church.
