Term 4 Week 5

Here is an outline of learning for Chestnut Class for week 5 of term 4

Term 4  Week 5- overview

We had a really enjoyable week immersing ourselves in Macbeth and the class produced a really good drama based on an aspect of the play.

As we settle back into our routine again, just a reminder that we check the reading records on Wednesday and that homework is issued on Thursday and due in the following Monday.  As we have PE first thing on a Friday, children may come into school in their PE kit, but will need to bring their uniform to change into afterwards.

This week we will be doing some short assessments to help gauge where the children are at this stage.  This will feed into future planning and will enable us to fill any gaps in the children’s learning resulting from lockdown.

We will also continue to study Macbeth with a focus on character description.  Children will be challenged to use exciting adjectives to paint a picture of key characters they encounter.

In Maths we will move on to division, recapping dividing 2 digits by 1 digit.  We will also spend time on times tables practise.  It is really pleasing to see how much progress some children have made with their times tables and how this impacts on their calculation fluency!

In RE we will be working on the Salvation unit and considering the question of why Christians call the day Jesus died, Good Friday.  We will be looking in particular at the betrayal of Jesus by Judas and Peter.
