Here is your learning for Thursday 25th February 2021

Term 4 Week 1

Thursday 25th February 2021

Good morning Chestnut Class!

Reading for 30 minutes.  You can do this in shorter chunks if you wish.  Please note down what you have read in your yellow reading record.

Grammar – You will be doing an application and reasoning sheet for direct/indirect speech.  This will build on the fluency work you did on Tuesday.  I have attached the powerpoint again for reference.  Please choose ONE of the sheets.  I do not expect you to complete all of them!

Guided reading – LIVE SESSION at 9.15

We will be re-reading the prologue and chapter 1 and discussing our answers to the comprehension questions.

If you are unable to join this session, you can mark your own work with the guide I have attached to the blog post.

The link for his lesson was sent out last Friday.

Story time – LIVE SESSION at 1pm

I will be reading the next instalment of The Midnight Guardians.

Please join me using the link emailed to you last week

English – I would like you to revisit the ‘sign of a Goblin’ poem you wrote yesterday.  Watch the video on the lesson below and choose one or two poetry devices that you could add to your own poem to improve it.  It is important to be selective and not try to include them all!!  A simple option is to improve your adjectives and possibly include some alliteration.

English KS1 / KS2: Playing with words - BBC Teach

Maths – We are moving on to 7 times tables and division facts.  I have attached a set of teaching slides to work through before you complete the worksheet.  I have also attached the answers.

Maths fluency  - Try this game to practise your multiplication skills!

Maths Fishing - Multiplication - Mathsframe

ICT  - I have set you 3 tasks on Purple Mash that focus on left 3rd finger typing skills.  If you do not have access to a keyboard, please select an activity from the other options in the computing section of Purple Mash.

Have a lovely day,

Mrs Barter
