Week 2 - hot air balloons.

Week preview and home learning 21/09/20

Well what a busy week we have had last week! The children have worked so hard and made a start on some amazing collaborative art projects. They have writen scene descriptions, drawn maps and given instructions and found different ways of making 2 digit numbers.

This week we will be carrying out assessments for reading, writing and maths. Please reassure your child that these really are nothing to worry about. We are doing these earlier this year just to give us a better idea of where the children are, what gaps in learning may have been created by lockdown and how we can best start teaching a catch up curriculum.

However, our afternoons will be filled with lots of wonderful fun activities. Tuesday afternoons Mr Luckhurst will be doing PE and we ask all children to come to school wearing their PE kit, they do not need to bring a change of uniform, we are trying to ensure as little comes to school as possible.

We will be continuing to finish our 'junk model' city scapes, the children have had a great chance at mixing and using acrylic paints. We will be creating water effects with paint and salt as well as creating our own hot air balloons.

Home learning will begin properly after assessment week, once we know exactly what needs more coverage. Until then:

Reading 5 times a week for 15 mins.

Times table practice (2s, 5s and 10s first then moving on to 3s, 4s and 8s if they are secure on the first set) https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/hit-the-button

Spelling - https://www.purplemash.com/#tab/pm-home I have set a quiz on Purplemash. Children can sign in using their purplemash sign ins that they have used through lockdown. Alternatively they can play some of the free phonics games on phonics play https://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/

Any questions please email the class email account and myself or Mrs Atkinson will try and help as soon as we can.
