Term 3, week 2

Happy New Year! We have only been back in school for just over a week and already, the children have been producing lots of super work!

This week looks a little different, as it is assessment week across the school. We will therefore not be following our usual timetable, although some elements will remain the same.

Maths assessments will take place, which include arithmetic and reasoning, together with a times table challenge. English will include reading comprehension, writing and spellings.

The children will also be producing a poster, highlighting key features of the United Kingdom, to compliment their topic work for this term.

Mrs Banner will be teaching our RE on Friday, and will looking at Sikhism. Mrs Banner will also do a spelling test, computing, handwriting and elements of the maths curriculum.

PE will continue on Mondays, with swimming as usual on Tuesdays. The children will need full PE kit, swimming costume/trunks, a towel, swimming cap - this is required by the swimming pool, and goggles (although these are optional). There will also be occasions when we do additional PE sessions, so please can the children have their PE kit in school all week.

Homework is resuming this week, and you will find details of this on a separate blog post. Generally, your child will complete the homework which has been uploaded to the class website page. However, if your child is given a different set of homework (which will be in their Home Learning books), there will be no need for them to complete the uploaded sheets/online work too (although they are obviously welcome to do this as well). If you have any questions about this, please email the maple email address below.

Reading Records will generally still be changed on a Monday and Thursday. We would ask, however, that children bring their reading books and Reading Records in to school each day and that they aim to read daily, ideally with an adult – details of this can then be recorded in the Reading Record.

I am always happy to answer any questions you may have, so please do contact me if you have any queries, using the class email address:
