Term 6, week 6

Please note that there is no Maths homework this week. I have scheduled 2 chapters of the Purple Mash Beth on the Nile series, in order to finish it this week.

This week in English, we will hopefully be reading our diary stories to some of the younger children. The children have worked hard on these, so this should be a fun session for all. We will also be creating some basic puppets, to use  alongside the children’s beautiful pigeons for some drama based activities.

In Maths, we will continue looking at time, this week building on our learning from last week.

In topic, we will be continuing to create a PowerPoint presentation covering all our learning in this topic.

We have our still life compositions to complete this week in art, together with painting the clay sarcophaguses that the children made a couple of weeks ago.

Mrs Johnson will be covering the final aspects of Sikhism, continuing to discuss reasons why being a Sikh is a good thing in Britain today and reasons why it might be hard sometimes. Mrs Hawker will be continuing with the ‘investigating flowering plants’ unit in science, this week, finalising the results of the previous experiment with roses and food dye! She will be continuing with the  singing practise, which I know the children are enjoying.

PE will be on Thursday as usual, with myself and Mr Luckhurst. Don’t forget to send the children into school with sun cream already applied, this is especially important on a Thursday, together with hats and water bottles (especially if the weather is hot). Swimming is on Friday as usual. Please do email if you have any questions about this and remember to send your children in with everything they need for these sessions. If in doubt please do ask.

Reading Records will generally be changed on a Monday and Thursday. We would continue to ask however, that children bring their books and Reading Records in to school each day and that they aim to read daily, ideally with an adult – details of this can then be recorded in the Reading Record.

I am always happy to answer any questions you may have, so please do contact me if you have any queries, using the class email address:
