Term 6, week 5

This week in English, we will be continuing our diary writing unit, creating our own diary style stories, which we are hoping to share with some of the younger children.

In Maths, we will be looking at time, this week focusing on telling the time to both five- and one-minute intervals and considering am and pm.

In topic, we will investigate Egyptian gods and start thinking about creating a PowerPoint presentation covering all our learning in this topic.

We will continue with whole class reading, using the BFG story to further investigate the vocabulary, and to answer questions about comprehension and composition.

Mrs Johnson will be covering further aspects of Sikhism, discussing reasons why being a Sikh is a good thing in Britain today and reasons why it might be hard sometimes. Mrs Hawker will be continuing with the ‘investigating flowering plants’ unit in science, this week, investigating seed dispersal. She will be continuing with the  singing practise, which I know the children are enjoying.

PE will be on Thursday as usual, with myself and Mr Luckhurst. Another reminder, I know many children come into school with sun cream already applied, but this is especially important on a Thursday, together with hats and water bottles, especially if the weather is hot. Swimming is on Friday as usual. Please do email if you have any questions about this and remember to send your children in with everything they need for these sessions. If in doubt please do ask.

Reading Records will generally be changed on a Monday and Thursday. We would continue to ask however, that children bring their books and Reading Records in to school each day and that they aim to read daily, ideally with an adult – details of this can then be recorded in the Reading Record.

I am always happy to answer any questions you may have, so please do contact me if you have any queries, using the class email address:
