Term 6, week 3

This week in English, we will be continuing our new unit, looking at recounts in the form of diaries. We will be basing the unit on the book ‘The Day I Swapped My Dad for Two Goldfish’ by Neil Gaiman. The focus this week is on chronology and time adverbs.

In Maths, we are continuing with the second fractions unit, looking this week, at partitioning fractions and non-unit fractions, specifically when considering a set of objects.

In topic, we will investigate Tutankhamun, discovering both primary and secondary evidence.

We will continue with whole class reading, using the BFG story to further investigate the vocabulary, and to answer questions about comprehension and composition.

Mrs Johnson will be covering further aspects of Sikhism and worship, learning about some of the same/different things Sikhs’ do which show equality in the Langar.

Mrs Hawker will be continuing with the ‘investigating flowering plants’ unit in science, this week investigating how water is transported through a plant, conditions for plant growth and why water is so important. She will also be doing some singing, which sounds fun.

PE will be on Thursday as usual, with myself and Mr Luckhurst. I know many children come into school with sun cream already applied, but this is especially important on a Thursday, together with hats and water bottles, especially if the weather is hot. Swimming is on Friday as usual. Please do email if you have any questions about this and remember to send your children in with everything they need for these sessions. If in doubt please do ask.

Reading Records will generally be changed on a Monday and Thursday. We would continue to ask however, that children bring their books and Reading Records in to school each day and that they aim to read daily, ideally with an adult – details of this can then be recorded in the Reading Record.

I am always happy to answer any questions you may have, so please do contact me if you have any queries, using the class email address:
