Week 5, Term 6

Last week we had our Sports Day, and I am sure you will all agree that the children were fantastic! Despite the rain, everyone participated fully and really tried their best.

In maths this week, we will continue to look at telling the time, recapping further elements from last year, whilst building on telling the time to 1 minute. We will investigate am and pm, consider the 24-hour clock and think about start and end times.

In English, we will continue with diary writing, looking specifically at features of diaries and different points of view.

In topic work this week, we will be continuing our science theme for this term - flowering plants, looking more closely at seeds and fruit.

Hopefully we will also complete our Tutankhamun masks this week too.

In RE this week, Mrs Johnson will continue the Sikhism unit, taking a further look at how Sikh people worship and celebrate. Mrs Johnson also makes time for the children to practice their handwriting and I can confirm that one child has now achieved the required standard for a pen licence! Hope to recommend a few more before the end of year 3.

Maple class have PE on Thursdays and Fridays, continuing to prepare their athletic skills for sports day! Please do remember to send them in with a hat and water bottle, and apply sun cream before school if possible.

On Friday, Mrs Tompsett will be looking at simulations in ICT, do the spellings assessment and further whole class reading.

Homework will be sent out on Tuesday, to be returned the following Monday as usual. Reading Records should come into school daily and will generally be changed on a Monday and Thursday. We are having an additional push on reading between now and the end of the academic year, so if you have any questions or concerns about this pleased do let me know.

In addition, times tables and handwriting practice would be very beneficial moving forward. There are lots of games online which can make learning their tables fun and any cursive handwriting practice will help.

As usual, I am happy to answer any questions you may have so please do contact me if you have any queries, using the class email address:
