This Week's Learning
Term 2 Week 3
In Maths this week, we are going to use our counting skills to solve addition and subtraction problems. We are going to explore how accurately counting forwards and backwards in 1s can be used to accurately solve a large number of addition and subtraction calculations. Next, we are going to consider how we can use our understanding of place value to add and subtract 10s.
If you would like to learn more about how we teach this concept in class, please take the time to watch these learning videos:
In English, we are going to complete, edit and improve out latest sections of narrative. We are currently creating an exciting piece of narrative to retell the part in the story where the girl escaped the cage and flew away on a magic carpet. Once our writing is complete, we will plan our own Journey story and think about how we could use words and illustrations to tell it.
In ICT, we are going to continue to explore programming using 2Logo. We will revisit how to use the repeat function to programme with efficiency and then explore how this function can be used to construct a range of geometric shapes. The 2Logo activity is currently included as a 2Do on PurpleMash so you can show off your programming skills at home.
In PE we will continue to set personal physical challenges and then work hard to complete them.
In Art and Design, we are going to use sketching pencils and watercolours to create representations of the town that the girl flies over on her magic carpet.
This week we are also going to record all the spoken parts in our virtual nativity. So please keep practising your lines at home!
As always, if you want to know more about any of these activities, or you need extra work to do because you are self-isolating, please do not hesitate to contact us via the class email address.
