This Week's Learning
Term 1 Week 6
In Maths this week, we will be practising counting forwards and backwards in 2, 5 and 10. We will be using hundred squares to help us identify patterns and will use number-lines to record jumps forwards and backwards. We will then use these skills to complete arithmetic problems and reasoning challenges. If you would like to learn more about counting in 2s, 5s and 10s or would like to practise these skills at home, please take the time to watch these learning videos:

In English, we are going to continue to write an action packed section of the Journey story. We are focusing on the part of the story where the girl falls down the waterfall and floats off in a hot air balloon. This week we are going to focus on how we can use the and/but/so/because conjunctions to add additional clauses to our action sentences. Finally, we will explore how we can used previously learned techniques, such as descriptive sentences and ‘show not tell’ phrases to add extra detail to our writing.
In ICT we are going to continue to learn how to code. We will use Free Code Chimp on PurpleMash to use Collision Detection to make objects stop moving when they collide and play a sound when this happens. If you would like to practise your coding skills further at home, we have set Free Code Chimp as a 2Do on PurpleMash.
In Art, we are going to continue to use pencil sketches to create a collaborative representation of the inside of the air ship in Journey. We will post a picture of our display on the blog as soon as it is complete.
