This Week's Learning
Term 3 Week 1
In English this week, we will begin by sorting information about Knights into fact and fiction. We will use all the information that we gathered last week and decide which information relates to real-life events and which information has arisen as a result of stories, myths and legends. Next, we are going to focus on reading traditional stories about Knights and picking out and recording common themes which we might like to include in our version of a Knight’s Quest. Next, we will read some alternative, non-traditional stories about Knights and pick out some non-traditional themes that we might like to include in our Knight’s Quest. Finally, we are going to start design a Kingdom in which our quest will take place. We will focus on the natural features of our Kingdom and inhabit it with good and bad characters.
As it is assessment week, we will focus on reviewing our mathematical understanding of place value, addition, subtraction and money before completing arithmetic and reasoning assessments. We will also complete reading assessments as well.
In Science, we will use and apply our understanding of material properties to analyse the materials that were used to build houses in the past. We will make comparisons with the types of materials that are used to build houses today.
We will also complete RE, PE and Design and the Arts lessons.
If you would like to know more about any of these activities or you are learning from home due to self-isolation and need more work to complete, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us directly using the class email address: email@example.com
