# Monday 22nd February

Sorry- we are having some major technical issues at school this morning. At the moment, the internet is down and we have had to cancel all live lessons for today. We are hoping to get things up and running for tomorrow and will let you know as soon as the problem is fixed.

## (NOT LIVE) English Lesson:

This morning, we will be introducing a new writing genre- instructions.

Activity: Our first piece of writing will be one of the following titles:

How to Make Mr Mackinnon Angry

How to Make Mrs Banner Angry

How to Make Mrs Johnson Angry

Your job is to come up with 5 instructions that you would give to a fellow class mate if you wanted to make these people very angry.

When you have completed your 5 instruction sentences, please send them in to us so we can share them with the rest of the class.

Hopefully, we will have a live lesson tomorrow so we can revisit these sentences and learn a little bit about imperative (bossy verbs).

Remember to read at home for at least 20 minutes today. Also, have a go at the ‘Tale of Two Feathers’ reading comprehension activity. If you need help reading the text, read it with a grown–up and then try to answer the questions on your own (remember you can pick the 1,2 or 3 Star Challenge).

## Maths-

Today, we have two problem solving activities for you to complete to help you remember about our learning on money;

Activity 1: How many different ways can you pay for the 75p bottle of water?

Activity 2: How many different ways can you pay for the £36 video game?

Try you best to work in a systematic way. For example, try starting using the coins/notes with the largest value.

Please send in your completed work so we can give you some feedback.

## Number Fluency-

Before half term, we explored how to use the bridging through 10 techniques to add single digit numbers for which we did not know the number bonds. e.g. 8 + 6

If you are still getting to grips with the bridging through 10 technique, keep on working at it before moving on to today’s activity. You can watch a learning video on bridging through 10 here:

This week, we are going to learn how to use and apply this technique to solve even trickier problems. Please start by watching Mr M’s learning video.

Now use this technique to solve the attached arithmetic problems.
