Here is your learning for Tuesday 2nd February 2021
Term 3 Week 5
Tuesday 2nd February 2021
Good morning Chestnut Class!
Reading for 30 minutes. You can do this in shorter chunks if you wish. Please note down what you have read in your yellow reading record.
Grammar - We are moving on to recognising speech. Over the next few weeks we will look at how to punctuate speech in our writing. As usual, I attach a powerpoint to guide you through the sessions for today and Thursday. I have attached a set of activity sheets and answers. It is up to you which one you do, but I don’t expect you to do all 3!
Whole class reader – Please re-read Chapter 5 of The Iron Man. Identify and look up any words that you are not sure of. This will prepare you for the comprehension questions on Wednesday.
You may wish to read along while you listen to the chapter:
The Iron Man - Chapter 5 by Ted Hughes - YouTube
English – Goblinology page 24. This is a task that is for today AND tomorrow. I would like you to spend today’s session PLANNING a report/set of instructions/recipe. Use the planning format on page 24 to generate ideas. Tomorrow I will be asking you to write your report/set of instructions/recipe up neatly along with diagrams.
10:30am- ‘What to do on a walk’
FSC | Primary Nature Live | What to do on a walk - YouTube
This is a live session provided the Field Studies Council. Please join us on their YouTube channel to take part in this session. I have attached the resources for this session to this blog post.
Maths fluency – Today I would like you to try a new game called Coconut Multiples on Topmarks. Here is the link to it: Coconut Multiples - Reinforce Times Tables (topmarks.co.uk)
It is a fun game like Hit the Button. You can select the times table you would like to work on.
RE - The lesson today will focus on how Christians try to create the kind of world Jesus wanted. We will be looking at the diary of a vicar and reflecting on how those activities link to the stories we have been learning about.
Have a lovely day,
Mrs Barter
