Friday 22nd January

Here is today's home learning.

Reading

While learning from home, you should be aiming for at least 20 minutes reading per day. This can be any type of text – fiction book, non-fiction, comic, newspaper, etc. A reading comprehension has been included with this blog for you to complete if you wish.

You can also visit the Oxford Owl website https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/ and access books online. The login details are:

Phonics

Today we are learning about the ‘oe’ in words like toe, goes and hoe. Follow the video link below to watch Mrs Pring talk about ‘oe’ sound.

Talk about the ‘oe’ sound. Say the sound.  Write the sound. Can you write some sentences using words with ‘oe’ in them?

Maths

Today we would like you to practise your number bonds for 20. Look at the challenge cards attached to this blog. Can you find the missing number for each question?  Use practical resources that you have at home, such as pencils, coins or counters, to help solve the questions. When you have finished, try to write down some of the numbers that add up to 20 (e.g.11+9=20).

English/Science

Today we would like you to write about the animal group of fish. There are two video clips for you to watch and there is also some information about fish attached to this blog. Alternatively, you can do your own research.

What are fish? - BBC Bitesize

What are fish? | Primary Biology - Animal Types - YouTube

Write a fact file about fish. What are the main features of all fish?  What is the skin like? Are they warm blooded or cold blooded? What interesting facts did you find out about fish? Write down what you have learnt. You can either write in your home learning book or use the lined paper attached to this blog. You can choose how to organise your fact file but remember to include a title, an introduction, information in sections, subheadings and pictures.

ICT

In ICT we are continuing to explore the basic principles of coding and this week we are look at how to move objects on the screen in different directions.  Please log on to Purple Mash where some 2Dos have been set (‘Turtle’ and ‘2Go’). Have a go at completing the tasks. There are hints to help you.

You could also use 2Paint A Picture to create your own Romero Britto inspired masterpiece or write and animate a story using 2Create a Story.
