Term 5 Week 2

Here is an overview of our learning activities for week commencing 24th April 2023.

In our Phonics lessons we will be learning about words containing the ‘ie’ digraph where it makes an ‘ee’ sound such as ‘field’ and ‘shield’. We will also be reading the words ‘January’ and ‘February’ and writing the words ‘friend’ and ‘also’. We will also be revisiting some phonemes that we have already learnt.

In English, we will be using the story ‘The Great Explorer’ by Chris Judge as the basis for our work. This week we will be creating a story map and writing some more diary entries for an explorer.

In Maths, we will be adding equal groups, making arrays and exploring doubles.

This week in RE we will be learning about Judaism and the story of David and Goliath.

In Computing, we will be using the Bee-Bots and programming them forwards and backwards by different numbers of steps.

In Art, we will be starting to look at the work of Katerina Apale and her use of nature and bright colours in her paintings.

Willow class will still have PE on Wednesday morning and Thursday morning. Please make sure that your child has their PE kit in school on these days. This term we will be developing our athletic skills in preparation for sports day next term.

If you have any questions or need help with anything please contact us using the class email address (willow@st-barnabas.kent.sch.uk).
