Term 3 Week 3

Here is an overview of our learning activities for week commencing 16th January 2023

In our main Phonics lessons we will be learning to read and write words containing ‘ch’ which make a /c/ sound (such as school and Christmas) and a /sh/ sound (such as chef and parachute). We will also be reading the words ’thought’ and ‘through’ and writing the words ‘Mr’ and ‘Mrs’.

In English we will be starting to write a non-chronological report about birds.

In Maths we will be continuing our work on place value for numbers up to 20. This week we will be finding one more and one less than different numbers up to 20. We will also be using number lines to help us locate numbers and find missing numbers.

In our Science lesson we will be learning about animals and their features and characteristics. In Computing we will be finishing off our digital drawing topic and starting to learn about grouping data. In Art we will be looking at Katsushika Hokusai’s The Great Wave off Kanagawa and will use poster paints to create our own wave pictures.

We will be continuing to learn about the story of Matthew the Tax Collector and what this story teaches Christians around the theme of friendship and God’s love.
