Term 5 Week 4

Here is an overview of our learning activities for week commencing 9th May 2022.

Over the next few weeks in Phonics we will be reviewing some of the letter sounds we have learnt. This week we will be looking at ‘air’, ‘ure’, ‘er’, ‘aw’ and ‘au’ and will be reading and writing words containing these sounds.

In English we will be reading the story ‘The Great Explorer’ by Chris Judge and will then imagine that we are explorers going on an adventure. This week we will be writing packing lists and starting to look at what to include in a diary entry for an explorer.

In Maths we will be continuing to learn about making equal groups by grouping and sharing objects. We will then learn about halving shapes and groups of objects. As part of our Maths fluency work we will be comparing numbers and adding groups of objects together.

In RE we will be learning about the Muslim Story of The Prophet and the Ants and how Islam teaches that you should care for all animals no matter how small they are. As part of Topic work we will be talking about the 7 continents and will label them on a map. Willow class will still have PE on Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning. We will be continuing to develop our athletic skills this week. In Art we will start to use resources to create land art in the style of Andy Goldsworthy.
