Term 5 Week 2

Here is an overview of our learning activities for week commencing 25th April 2022.

In English and Phonics this week we will be learning about singular and plural nouns and will be using these in our writing. In English we will be using the stories ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ by Eric Carle and ‘Counting Creatures’ by Julia Donaldson as the basis for our work and will be writing our own versions of the stories. In Phonics we will be learning about the ‘s’ and ‘es’ suffixes and will practise reading and writing words with them in and will try to spot extra words with these suffixes.

In Maths we will be learning about making equal groups of objects. We will then learn about adding equal groups together and will finish the week by making arrays. As part of our Maths fluency work we will be looking at how an odd number can be split into an odd part and an even part.

In RE we will be continuing to learn about Judaism. This week we will learn about the story of Jonah and The Whale and what the story teaches Jewish people. As part of Science work we will be talking about the structure of a plant and looking at some of the plants growing in the school grounds. Willow class will still have PE on Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning. We will be continuing to develop our athletic skills this week. In Art we will start to use resources to create land art in the style of Andy Goldsworthy.
