Term 5 Week 1

Here is an overview of our learning activities for week commencing 18th April 2022.

Welcome back. We hope you have enjoyed the Easter break and the sunshine.

In English and Phonics this week we will be talking about writing in the past tense. In English we will be using the story ‘Jasper’s Beanstalk’ by Nick Butterworth and Mick Inkpen as the basis for our work and will be writing our own version of the story. In Phonics lessons we will be learning about the ‘ed’ suffix and will practise reading and writing words with it in and will try to spot extra words with this suffix.

In Maths we will be recapping some of the number bonds we learnt last term and using part whole models to represent them. We will also be practising counting forwards and backwards in 2s, 5s and 10s.

We are starting a new topic in RE and over the next two terms we will be listening to stories from different faiths and learning about different places of worship. This week we will be learning about Judaism and some of its traditions.

As part of Science work we will be talking about what we know about plants and will be thinking about what things a seed needs to help it grow.

Willow class will still have PE on Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning so please make sure that on these days your child has their PE kit in school and that earrings are removed. This week we will be starting to develop our athletic skills and will be learning about standing jumps.

If you have any questions or need help with anything please contact us using the class email address (willow@st-barnabas.kent.sch.uk).
