Term 2 Week 1

Welcome back! Here is an overview of our learning activities for week commencing 1st November 2021.

This week in Phonics we will be learning some letter sounds: ‘ay’ as in day, ‘ou’ as in out, ‘ie’ as in tie and ‘ea’ as in bead.

In Maths we will be continuing to learn about addition and this week we will be investigating number bonds to 10, comparing number bonds, adding amounts together and adding more on.

In English we will be starting some work around the story of the 3 Little Pigs. This week we will be listening to the story, exploring the repeated language in it, using actions to retell the story and starting to make a class story map.

Willow class continue to have PE on Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning this term. Please make sure your child has their PE kit in school on those days.

In our Computing lesson we will be discussing the technology we encounter outside of school and talking about internet safety.

In RE we will be starting a new topic about why Christmas matters to Christians. This week we will talk about what the word “Christmas” makes us think about and how people celebrate Christmas.

In Art this term we will be looking at some of the work of Antony Gormley and this week we will be looking at images of the clay figures he made, like the one at the start of this blog. We will be making our own clay models over the next couple of weeks and link this to our school vision that “Each child is uniquely created and loved by God”.

This term we will also be doing some work about our local area and where we live. This week we will be thinking about our homes and what they are like.
