Written Homework to be completed by Tuesday 25^th November 2025

1. Please learn the following words for a spelling test. This week we are learning to spell more words that contain silent letters:

aisle   debris   mortgage   wrestle   wrapper   island   Christmas   yacht   guarantee   guilty

2. This week I would like you to write a sentence containing each word to show that you understand the meaning.  If you do not know the meaning, please look up the word in the dictionary.  Can you use commas, full stops and capital letters correctly?  What adjectives can you use to create an expanded noun phrase?  Can you add a conjunction such as however or despite?  Please refer to the ‘Monarchy’ Sheet that gives different strategies for how to learn spellings.  This has been stuck in the front of your child’s Homework Book.
3. English Task: This week I would like you to research some information about Galileo Galilei who was alive from 1564-1642.  He was an Italian Scientist and Mathematician.  I would like you to draw a picture of him.  You can present your information in any way you would like.  For example, a mind map or a diagram.
4. Online Tasks: For Purple Mash I have set you Chapter 2 of Planet Earth? (our new e-book). Your logins for Purple Mash have been stuck in your Homework Book.   Please type in Serial Mash then ‘Planet Earth?’ after you have logged into Purple Mash.  This book should come up!
