Term 5, week 5

In Maple Class this week:

Whole Class Reading: this week we will take a final look at the lyrics for the song, Bare Necessity, from the film Jungle Book. We also started considering the history of magnets last week, so will finish that too. We will further discuss vocabulary and content, with the children working as a whole class and in small groups, to retrieve information and make inferences about the lyrics.

Maths: we are continuing with fractions and money again this week, looking at consolidating our understanding of  the ‘whole’, comparing and ordering non-unit fractions and working with money.

English: we will read more of the book, The Egyptian Cinderella, start a newspaper article and take a further look at the different types of poems.

Time and Place: this week, we investigate who the pharaohs were and how they influenced society during the Ancient Egyptian era.

Art: we are continuing to make our puppets.

Science and Computing will continue as normal. Mrs Duncombe will be leading the science unit, all about flowering plants.

Homework will be as usual on Tuesday, and due back Monday 2nd June. Please note, it is not necessary to complete all the quizzes on Purple Mash! Please choose one of the options.

If you have any questions this week, or at any point in the year, please email the class email: maple@st-barnabas.kent.sch.uk. For any urgent messages, please email the main office email.

Kind regards

Mrs Smallcombe and the Maple Team
