Term 2, week 7

After last week’s school closure, this week will also look a little different. We will be spending time practising and rehearsing for the KS2 carol service, which will involve a number of visits to the church.

We will also be playing catch up with last week’s plans. Please send the work your child completed last week into school for marking.

This week in Maple Class:

English: this week, we will be continuing with the Holiday Brochure unit. We have completed lots of research and will now begin to create our own brochures.

Whole Class Reading:  we will begin reading an abridged version of The Christmas Carol, with the children discussing the vocabulary and answering comprehension questions.

Maths: this week we will continue focusing on adding and subtracting, further investigating subtracting across tens and hundreds, before moving on to the final two steps for this unit.

Art: this week, we will be continuing a DT project involving recycled fabrics.

RE: this term, we are continuing the Incarnation unit and investigating the Trinity.

PE: unfortunately, we will not be having PE on Wednesday, due to the KS1 Nativity. However, depending on the weather, we will try to spend some extra time outside, so please do send your children in with their PE kits as usual.

In addition, we will also be doing Science and Computing with Mrs Banner.

Homework will be the same work posted on the blog last week, and is due back next Monday. If you have any concerns about the homework, please email the Maple Class email or pop a note in the Home Learning book. Please try to read with the children and encourage them to put their reading records and homework books in the basket in the classroom.

If you have any questions, at any point in the year, please email the class email: maple@st-barnabas.kent.sch.uk. For any urgent messages, please email the main office email.

Kind regards

Mrs Smallcombe and the Maple Team
