This week in Maple Class:

English: this week, we will be writing our own stories, based on the book ‘Stone Age Boy’, by Satoshi Kitamura. We started planning these before half-terms, so will now draft the stories, edit and improve, and then present them in our neatest handwriting.

Whole Class Reading: this week we will be reading an extract from the Boy Who Grew Dragons. The children will discuss the vocabulary and answer comprehension questions, both as a group, in pairs and independently.

Maths: We will recap the main elements of the place value unit, and then start addition and subtract, focusing on number bonds and adding and subtracting 1s, 10s and 100s.

Science: we will begin the light unit.

Computing: we will be learning to create media, using stop-frame animation.

Art: this week, we will be continuing the still life unit, making decisions about our final artwork.

RE: this term, we are starting the Incarnation unit and investigating the Trinity.

PE is on a Wednesday and Friday this term, and we will be starting the netball unit this week. Please ensure your child has their full PE kit in school.

Homework will be issued on Tuesday as usual, and is due back next Monday. Please try to read with the children and encourage them to put their reading records and homework books in the basket in the classroom.
