Term 1, week 5

This week in Maple Class:

English: this week, we will be continuing to use the book ‘Stone Age Boy’, by Satoshi Kitamura. We will be building on the use of adverbials of time and place, creating a postcard from the Stone Age Boy.

Whole Class Reading: this week we will using an extract from the book ‘Henry Pond the Poet’. The children will discuss the vocabulary and answer comprehension questions, both as a group, in pairs and independently.

Maths: the main focus will continue to be Place Value. We will build on the use of number lines to 1,000, and then start to compare and order numbers to 1,000.

Science: we will continue investigating rocks.

Computing: we will be learning about computer networking, and will spend some time exploring the school system.

Time and Place: continuing with our Stone Age project, this week we will be considering the implication of the discovery of bronze.

Art: this week, we will be continuing the still life unit, challenging ourselves to use pastels.

RE: this term, we are investigating People of God and what it means to follow God.

PE is on a Wednesday and Friday this term, and we will be starting the hockey unit. Please ensure your child has their full PE kit in school.

Homework will be issued on Tuesday as usual, and is due back next Monday. Please try to read with the children and encourage them to put their reading records and homework books in the basket in the classroom.
