Learning for week beginning 7th June.

Welcome back, what glorious weather we had for our week off. Certainly feels like summer now.

A few more weeks to go before the end of Year 3 and a lot to pack in.

An email will be coming out about an amazing Ancient Egyptian workshop we have managed to book for 28th June. The children worked hard in Beech Class to raise money for a school trip which we unfortunately did not get to go on. The money that they raised has been put towards this workshop, so there is no cost for parents/ carers to pay.

What are we learning this week

Maths - we are going to look back and spend the next couple of weeks recapping our addition and subtraction techniques. We learnt these techniques at the beginning of the year and a lot has gone on since then, so we need a recap before moving onto multiplication and divisions.

English - We are going to start looking at non-fiction texts this week. We will start by exploring the features and looking at how we will begin writing our own texts.

Reading - We will be carrying on with Flat Stanley and the great Egyptian Grave Robbery.

Learning for week beginning 24th May 2021.

Last few days before half-term next week. The children have done brilliantly this term.

What are we learning this week...

English - We will be continuing our recounts. When we have finished them we will look at editing them and writing them up in neat.

Maths - In maths this week we are going to be exploring 3D shapes - we will be naming them, sorting them and describing them using the terms vertices, edges and faces. We will also be looking at angles - recognising angles as an amount of a turn and right angles as a quarter turn. We will then start comparing angle as greater than or smaller than a right angle.

Reading - We will be continuing with Flat Stanley and the great Egyptian Grave Robbery.

Topic - We are going to look at types of food that they would have eaten in Ancient Egypt and make menus up for a feast.
