Term 2 Week 6

Hopefully the water will be back on and we will all be in school this week. However, if the school is closed please access the following pieces of Home Learning:

Nativity Lines: Why not spend some time practising your lines! Make sure you can say them from memory with volume and expression.

-Reading: Please spend some extra time reading. Why not use these VIPERS questions to enrich the reading experience:

-Vocabulary

-Inference

-Prediction

-Explanation

-Retrieval

-Sequencing

-English and Communication: Please complete the speech bubble activity in your Home Learning book and on the blog. If you finish this, please complete the extension.

-Maths: Please see the separate blog post to watch an online lesson and complete a White Rose worksheet.

-Phonics: Please see the separate blog post to practise the phonics skills we are learning this week. Don't forget to practise your tricky words.

-Wider Curriculum: Please access the wider curriculum activities on the current home learning matrix. If you send your work to the class email address, Mr M will give you feedback and put your work on the blog.

If all goes to plan, here is what we are learning this week.

In English and Communication, we are completing our frost fair diary entries. We are also using play scripts to rehearse the nativity. In phonics, we are adding 'er' and 'est' to words ending in /y/. Our tricky words are 'poor' and 'great'. Our grammar focus is using adjectives to create expanded noun phrases.

In Maths, we are focusing on addition and subtraction. We will learn to subtract a single-digit number from any 2-digit number. We will then solve addition and subtraction calculations in context.

In Science and Computing, we are learning how to take and improve digital photographs.

We will also complete Guided Reading, PE, PHSCE, RE, Mastering Number and Design and the Arts lessons as well.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us directly using the class email address.
