    Reading-

Remember to read for at least 20 minutes at home today. Read the selection of questions that Beech Class came up with about the Great Fire of London. Identify any questions that you think you already know the answers to. Pick at least 4 questions that you would like to find out the answers for.

    English-

This week we are going to create a descriptive piece of writing written in the first person. So the first thing you need to do is to watch this video in which Mr M reads the start of a book called ‘Toby and The Great Fire of London’.

    https://youtu.be/-dihmn6x5-g

We stopped at page 15 because we are going to create a piece of writing which describes what Toby can see, smell and hear.

Think carefully about the things that Toby might be able to see, hear and smell. Use this picture of the Great Fire of London to help inspire you.

Record your ideas in the ‘What can Toby see, hear and smell?’ activity sheet. When the activity sheet is complete, send it in to us so we can use your ideas to make our help sheet later for later in the week.

    Spelling-

We have set you some spelling words to practise which involve homophones and near homophones. Go to purple mash and look for the ‘Week 3 Quiz’ 2Do. Talk through each of these words with a member of your family and make sure you know the different meanings of each word.

We have also attached a Look, Say, Cover, Write, Check sheet to this post so you can practise these spellings and check your understanding of their meanings.

    Maths-

If you have not done so already, watch the learning video on Making Arrays and complete the Make Arrays worksheet.

Aut2.12.5 - Make arrays on Vimeo

Now watch Mr M’s learning video on how to record arrays using words, the +, and the x symbol.

    https://youtu.be/8eHmA3Hr5CM

Now pick a pair of arrays from the ‘Array Pictures’ document attached to this blog. Stick them in the middle of a piece of paper. Now, use your understanding of equal groups, rows and columns and the + and x symbols to record each array in as many different ways as possible to create an array poster. You might like to use colour coding like Mr M did in his video to help you.

Here is an example of what your work should look like:

You can do this for as many arrays as you like- but I would recommend that you do at least 3 to fully demonstrate your understanding. Please submit at least one of your posters via the class email address so we can give you some feedback.

    P.E.-

Get active with this 8 minute workout from Jo Wicks:

Pick an activity from the Sport, Exercise and Health section of the Wider Curriculum Home Learning Matrix.

As always, if you have any problems with any of these activities or need any support or guidance, please do not hesitate to contact us via the class email address.
