    9:00: Live English Lesson-

Today, we will be exploring how to finish our piece of instruction writing in an interesting way. Start by joining us for today’s live lesson.

Activity: Now use an ‘If…then…’ sentence and an exclamation sentence to finish of your set of instructions. When your conclusion is complete, check your own work against the success criteria and modelled writing attached to this blog post. Have you included all the key elements of a piece of instruction writing?

If you cannot attend this lesson or would like to re-watch it, we will do our best to record it and add it to the blog shortly after the lesson has finished. We will keep the link live for 24 hours after filming.

    https://youtu.be/RmL07X1Z6QI

Extension: Use the techniques that you learned this week to create a piece of instruction writing for how to make someone in your family angry.

    Maths-

Today we are going to explore how to use the expanded vertical method of addition to add amounts of money involving pounds and pence. Start by watching Mr M’s learning video:

    https://youtu.be/iCz7kCvLb0k

Now visit Mr M’s shop again. He has increased the prices on all his stock. Pick 2 items from the shop,  then use your understanding from today’s video lesson to find the total value of these items. Try to complete at least 5 calculations.

Extension: Complete the ‘Find the Total’ activity. Watch the following activity if you need help: Aut2.11.2 - Find the total on Vimeo

    Reading-

Remember to read at home for at least 20 minutes today. Also, remember to join us for Beech Story Time at 1:30 this afternoon. Today, we will be reading an interactive information text all about Knights and Castles.

Here are links to the information that we looked at in today's story time:

Medieval Knights | Knights For Kids | DK Find Out

Medieval Castles | Castle Facts For Kids | DK Find Out

    Number Fluency-

Today we will be focusing on how we can use our knowledge of number bonds to 10 to subtract single digit numbers from multiples of 10. Before you start this activity, just text yourself to check that you know all your number bonds to 10.  If the answer is yes- then please continue with this lesson. If the answer is no- then practise your number bonds to 10.

Start by watching Mr M’s learning video:

    https://youtu.be/5mVMObKsymc

Now use this technique to solve these subtraction problems. Please use the attached number-line to support you if you need it.

    P.E.-

In this lesson, we will continue to develop our understanding of how balances and travelling actions can be linked together to create a basic sequence. We will think about what impact exercise has on our body’s responses. Please note this lesson will require some physical exercise and additional equipment, beyond a pen, pencil or paper. Please see the equipment slide near the start of the lesson video and make sure your child is adequately supervised when equipment is required. Parents and carers are responsible for ensuring that children follow the correct safety advice provided at the start of this lesson and the instructions the teacher gives during the lesson. Parents and carers are responsible for supervising activities where required and for seeking medical advice in advance if your child has a medical condition that may prevent them taking part in physical activity.

    9:00: Live English Lesson-

Today we are going to explore how to improve the wonderful sets of instructions that you completed yesterday. We will start by thinking about how to use simple sequencing vocabulary to order our instructions. Then we will use a writing frame to help us write a catchy and interesting introduction. If we have time, we will also think about how to create a ‘You Will Need’ section.

When the lesson is finished, we want you to add the following elements to your instructions:

    -sequencing vocabulary

    -an introduction

    -a ‘You Will Need’ section

We have now attached the modelled writing from today's live lesson to this blog post. You can use it to check that you have added all the organisational featuresw correctly.

When your writing is complete send it in so we can give you some feedback.

    Reading-

Remember to read at home for at least 20 minutes today. Then you can tune into the next chapter of The Witches.

    https://youtu.be/eI2RMPm-nes

    Maths-

Start by watching Mr M’s learning video.

    https://youtu.be/kxR98m_65hc

In this lesson we revisit an addition technique that was taught earlier in the year- expanded vertical addition.

Activity: Visit Mr M’s shop. Pick two items from Mr M’s shop. Find the total value using the partition method.  Repeat this with at least 5 calculations.

Extension 1: Create problems where you know the sum of the 1s column with be 10 or larger. This will mean that you have to cross a 10s barrier in order to calculate your answer.

Extension 2: Can you use this method to find the total value of 3 items? What about 4 items?

    Number Fluency-

Today we are going to continue to think about subtraction facts and related subtraction facts. Start by watching Mr M’s learning video.

    https://youtu.be/PHU5xvHg--4

Now take a bar model from the sheet and use it to come up with as many different related subtraction calculations as possible.

    R.E.-

Now have a go at the attached R.E. activity. it is all about Humanism.

    9:00: Live English Lesson-

In today’s lesson, we are going to explore how to use the and/or/because/so/as conjunctions to add extra detail to the basic instructions that we created yesterday.

Once you have attended the live lesson, use your understanding to add additional clauses to your basic instructions.

e.g. Put Mr M’s computer in the bin so he cannot do any work.

You can either use the sentences that you wrote yesterday or pick 5 sentences from the class bank of ideas attached to this post.

When your sentences are complete, please send them into us so we can give you some feedback.

Here is the recording of this live lesson. It will be available for 24 hours after recording.

    Reading-

Remember to read for at least 20 minutes at home today. Please select a book from Oxford Owl, read it and then send us in a mini-review so we can post it on the blog and recommend it to your classmates.

    Maths-

    First watch this learning video:

Aut2.10.5 - Make the same amount on Vimeo

Then complete the ‘Make The Same Amount’ worksheet.

Now try this activity, ‘Comparing Money’ worksheet.

Watch this video to help if required: Aut2.11.1 - Compare money on Vimeo

    Number Fluency-

Today we are going to focus on subtraction facts. Start by watching Mr M’s learning video.

    https://youtu.be/6slkWmwq96I

Now use this understanding to complete the arithmetic problems attached to this post. Try hard to solve each problem using a subtraction fact.

TOP TIP: If you are not sure, use the bar model to support you.

    Science-

In this lesson, we will be learning about solid objects. You will be investigating how you can change the shape of solid objects using items in your home. You will need a piece of paper, a pencil and some household objects which will be explained in the video.
