    Term 5 Week 2

In English this week, we are going to continue to create character descriptions. We are going to revisit and utilise all the fantastic descriptive techniques we used last week to describe the Yeti! We will start by creating a shared piece of writing before each creating our own unique description of this terrifying character.

In Maths we are going to revisit Place Value. We will remind ourselves the different values that digits can have depending on their position in a number. We will then turn our attention to using this understanding to solve problems and complete reasoning activities. We will also focus our attention on 2D and 3D shapes.

In Science we will complete our scientific conclusions for the dissolving investigation we completed before Easter.

In R.E. we will continue to focus on Judaism. We will also complete P.E and Art and Design activities.

We are looking forward to another really productive week in Beech Class. If you would like to know more about any of the activities that we are doing this week or you need help with home learning, please do not hesitate to contact us via the class email address.

    Term 5 Week 1

In English, we are going to turn our attention towards creating pieces of narrative. We will begin by creating a character description for the hero of our class quest- Lady Emma. We are going to use a range of different literary and storytelling techniques to create a shared description before trying some of these techniques out for ourselves.

In Maths, we are going to continue to focus on data handling. First, we wil revisit the work we have already completed on tally charts. Next, we will focus on using pictograms and block diagrams to represent data. We will also continue to focus on how to interpret data and use basic arithmetic to solve problems.

In Science, we will revisit the dissolving investigation that we completed before the Easter holidays. We will remind ourselves of the scientific vocabulary related to dissolving and then use this to help us write a scientific conclusion.

We will also complete P.E, R.E. and Design and Art activities.

We are looking forward to getting back to work after a fantastic Easter Holiday!

As always, if you would like to know more about what we are getting up to in class, please do not hesitate to contact us directly using the class email address.

    Term 4 Week 6

In English this week, we are going to do some reading assessment. We are going to focus on using our comprehension skills to answer questions and make inferences and predictions about the texts. Next, we will continue our work on instruction writing. We will pick another section from our Knight’s Quest and write an independent set of instructions for Lady Emma to complete.

In Maths, we are going to turn our attention towards statistics. First, we are going to explore how tally charts can be used to record data. Next, we will look at pictograms and focus on how both of these charts can be interpreted. Finally, we will explore how our basic arithmetic skills can be used to support our interpretation.

In Science we will be following up from last week’s dissolving investigation. We will focus on using scientific vocabulary to clearly explain what we found out. We will produce a piece of scientific writing which will give clear advice to Lady Emma.

We will also complete P.E, R.E, and Design and Art activities. We are looking forward to a productive and enjoyable week here in Beech Class.

    Term 4 Week 5

In English this week we are going to focus on instruction writing. We are going to write instructions for our Knight for how to complete their quest. We are going to use imperative verbs to write simple instructions and then use conjunctions to add extra detail. Finally, we are going to explore how the organisational features of instruction writing can be used to provide structure for our text.

In Maths we are going to start the week with some assessments to see what gaps have appeared in our learning during the period of lockdown. We will then complete our fractions learning by exploring how to solve fractions of amounts problems with large altogether numbers.

In Science we will complete a dissolving investigation and in R.E we will continue our work on Salvation. In art we are going to use cutting and pasting to create some wonderful Easter designs.

If you want more detail on anything we are doing or need help with any matter relating to your child’s learning, please do not hesitate to contact us using the class email address.
