Term 6 Week 2
This week we have set you two activities to complete on MyMaths:
Keep up to date with all the exciting activities and events happening in Year 2 by following us on our blog.
This week we have set you two activities to complete on MyMaths:
In English this week, we will be focusing on creating a section of dialogue to add into our most recent piece of narrative. We will plan the direct speech used by each character and then explore how we can use and apply the rules of speech punctuation to turn it into a complete section of dialogue. We will also explore how we can use synonyms for said and short snappy action sentences to make the dialogue more interesting for the reader.
In Maths, we will explore how we can use and apply all of the addition and subtraction skills that we have been working on over the past few weeks to solve arithmetic and reasoning problems.
In Time and Place, we are going to take a final look at the Bayeux Tapestry as well as other Saxon and Norman artefacts to make a set of historical discoveries about the Norman Invasion.
We will also complete R.E, P.E, and Art and Design activities.
This week, we would like you to try out the new Sir Linkalot App. Start by following this link:

This week we are focusing on subtraction.
Start by watching this learning video:

Now try this worksheet.
If you would like an extra challenge, please do not hesitate to ask. Just send us an email using the class email address.
In English this week, we are going to use all the story writing techniques we have learned so far to write an section of our class quest. Finally, we are going to explore how we could use direct speech to add a conversation between the main characters.
In Maths, we are going to focus on completing subtraction calculations. We are going to revisit the techniques that we learned last term and then explore how we can expand our repertoire of formal and informal methods of subtraction.
In Time and Place we are going to use the Bayeux Tapestry to make historical discoveries about the Norman Invasion of England. We are also going to consider the extent to which we can reliably use the tapestry as a source of historical information.
We are also going to complete P.E, R.E, and Design and Art activities.
We have put together this extra set of Home Learning activities to keep you busy and engaged at home.
These activities are totally optional and you can complete as many as you want. If you complete any of these activities you can send them into us via the class email or in your home learning book.
Who knows, we might even share your work on the blog to help inspire your classmates!
We can't wait to see what you come up with.
Good luck looking after your plants Einoras. Please keep us updated on how well they are growing!
Wow! Hayden- we love the way you have picked one of the extra home learning activities to complete.
Keep on looking after this plant and let us know how well it grows. Also, let us know what you need to do to keep this plant healthy.
This week we are leaning how to tell the time. We have added some MyMaths activities to complete to help you practise these skills.
This week we would like you use the Bayeux Tapestry to investigate the Norman Invasion of England in 1066.
For a full set of instructions please see the attached document.
In English this week, we are going to write a section of narrative from our class quest. First, we will add adverbial phrases and conjunctions to Mr M’s simple action sentences. Next, we will explore how we can use special writing techniques designed to show and tell the audience how the main character is feeling. We will finish the week by completing a final draft of our chapter.
In Maths, we will be focusing on mental subtraction. We will explore how we can use our understanding of number bonds, place value, counting and bridging through 10 to solve subtraction problems. We will also consider the most efficient method to use.
In Time and Place, we will use the Bayeux tapestry as a source of historical information. We will look at it closely and use it to make historical discoveries. However, we will also think carefully about how reliable it is as a source of information.
In Art and Design, we will continue to build our moving castles. In R.E. we will continue to learn about Judaism. We will also continue to learn hockey skills in P.E.
What an exciting project Rafi! Well done for using the home learning grid to help pick out some extra home learning activities.
