    Term 1 Week 2

In English and Communication this week, we are going to focus on the wonderful wordless text- 'The Tree and the River' by Aaron Becker. We are going to focus on two contrasting scenes from the book and create descriptive sentences to accompany Becker's wonderful illustrations. We will focus on creating grammatically sound sentences that use adjectives to create expanded noun phrases.

In Phonics, we are going to quickly revisit all of the Phase 3 sounds and tricky words that children learnt in Yr1. If you want to do some extra phonics learning at home this week, we have attached all the Level 2 and Level 3 sounds to this post for you to revisit.

In Maths, we are focusing on Place Value. We are going to support pupils to read, write, build and partition numbers upton 100. If you would like to focus on these skills at home this week, try watching the following Home Learning videos:

Y2 Autumn Block 1 TS4 Use a place value chart on Vimeo

Y2 Autumn Block 1 TS5 Partition numbers to 100 on Vimeo

In Science and Computing, we are exploring how Information Technology is used in our everyday life. Information Technology can be defined as a computer or something that works alongside a computer. Why not challenge your child to go on an Information Technology hunt around your house. What examples of Information Technology do you and your family use?

We will also complete Guided Reading, Mastering Number, PE and RE lessons as well. If you would like to know more about these activities or any other matter relating to your child's learning, please contact us using the class email address:
