Term 4 Week 1

Term 4 Week 1
Term 4 Week 1
Here is an overview of our learning activities for the week commencing 23rd February 2026.
In Phonics, we will be learning to read and write words containing the ‘wh’ digraph (such as whale, wheel and white). We will also be reading the words ‘lived’ and ‘horse’ and writing the words ‘work’ and ‘house’.
We will be using the book ‘Traction Man is Here’ by Mini Grey as a basis for our English work over the next few weeks. This week the children will be listening to the story several times and using adjectives to describe some of Traction Man’s outfits.
In Maths we will be learning about subtraction. This week we will be finding the difference between two numbers, using known number bonds to solve maths problems.
We are starting a new topic in RE and we will be thinking about our key question of the term: ‘Why does Easter matter to Christians?’ This week we will be talking about the words “Incarnation” and “Salvation” and how they relate to Jesus’ birth and death for Christians.
In Computing we will be learning about grouping objects in line with their properties and will start to identify labels for different groups.
Willow class will continue to have PE on Tuesday afternoon and Thursday morning so please make sure that on these days your child has their PE kit in school and that earrings are removed where possible.
If you have any questions or need help with anything please contact us using the class email address (willow@st-barnabas.kent.sch.uk).
