Term 1 Week 6

Here is an overview of our learning activities for the week commencing 13th October 2025.
This week there are parent consultations on Monday and Tuesday (in the hall) and Thursday (in Willow Classroom) after school. Please sign up on Arbor if you have not already done so. If you are unable to attend on those days, please speak to Mrs Pring and she will try to sort out an alternative day to meet with you.
We have reached the final week of this term, and it has been lovely to see how the children have settled into the Year 1 routines.
In Phonics, we will be learning to read and write words containing the ‘ie’ digraph (such as pie, tie and fried). We will also be reading the words ‘oh’ and ‘their’ and writing the words ‘come’ and ‘some’.
In Maths, we will be starting to learn about addition. This week we will be learning about part whole models and how to write an addition number sentence.
This week in English and Art, we will be looking at a book called ‘The Dot’ by Peter H Reynolds and will be retelling parts of the story.
In PE, on Tuesday afternoon and Thursday morning, we will be continuing to develop our ball control skills and playing an invasion game.
In Science, we will be continuing to describe the properties of everyday materials, like wood and glass.
If you have any questions or need help with anything, please contact us using the class email address (willow@st-barnabas.kent.sch.uk).
