Phonics
Watch the video below and recap the level 2 sounds and actions again, encourage them to say the sound and do the action.
You can stop after 'h' for house, or continue having a look at future sounds we will be learning.

After this, please support your child to practise writing the sound ‘h’, which you learnt yesterday.
They can write it on a whiteboard, paper, or anywhere suitable at home:
For further support, form the letter 'h' using writing repeater linked below. An adult can write 'h' a few times on a new page and click play to allow your child to see how 'h' is written.

Challenge: Have a go at writing words that start with the sound 'h'.
Maths
1. Begin with this counting song again and show each number using your fingers:

2. Show your child the numerals below, ask them to point to the number, say the number and show the number on their fingers.
3. Play Teddy’s Toys
-
Gather a small set of toys (6–10).
-
Count them into a line together.
-
Then ask your child to mix them up, spread them out, or move them into a pile.
-
Ask:
-
“Do we still have the same number of toys?”
-
“How can we check?”
-
-
Count again together.
-
Reinforce the key message: “The number doesn’t change just because they look different.”
Religious education
1. Recap the Nativity Figures
Begin by showing or naming the three key people: Mary, Joseph, Baby Jesus. Talk to your child about who they are.

2. Retell the Nativity Story Together
Ask your child: “Can you tell me what happens in the Nativity story?”
Let your child explain what they remember. As they talk, bring out (or point to) other Nativity characters such as the donkey, the shepherds, the wise men, the angel, the star and the stable animals
If your child is unsure, you can help by gently prompting:
-
“Who did Mary and Joseph travel with?”
-
“Where did they stay?”
-
“Who came to see baby Jesus?”
3. Think and Talk: Who Is Most Important?
Ask your child:
-
“Who do you think is the most important person in the Nativity story?”
-
“Why do you think that?”
Then explain simply:
Christians believe that Baby Jesus is the most important because they think he is God’s son.
4. Simple Activity – Make a Special Star for Baby Jesus
Activity:
Your child can make a Nativity Star to represent the star that shone above the stable.
You can use: paper or card, foil, crayons or pens or anything you find in your house.
Instructions:
-
Draw a simple star shape (adult can help).
-
Let your child decorate it in any special way they like.
-
Ask them:
-
“Why did you choose to decorate it like that?”
-
“Who is this star guiding people to?”
(Answer: Baby Jesus)
