Term 3 Week 3

What Lilac Class are doing for the WB 18.1.21

What we are doing this week in Lilac Class

WB: 18.1.21

In Maths this week in Lilac Class, we will consolidate our work on common factors by completing problem solving tasks.  We are to then move on to learning about prime, square and cube numbers

In English for our writing task this week we will initially focus on Chapters 2 and 3.  We will be analysing Mr Spink’s behaviour and the effect that it has.  Was he right or wrong to tell Jim Jarvis and his family to leave his house and make them homeless? We will then be thinking about Emily and Lizzie and imagining the conversation the pair of them would have had when they were left at the big house.

In RE, we will be continuing our work about Moses and our question we are exploring this week is ‘How does the story of Moses from the book of Exodus help our thinking about freedom and justice?’ This week we will be examining different images of Moses and the Burning Bush.  What can we see in these images that artists have created?  What do you think Moses felt when he saw the Burning Bush?  Why did God choose Moses?

For our Topic this week Lilac Class are learning about the impact of the Industrial Revolution on Victorian Britain.  We will be focusing on the question ‘What do you think the positive and negative effects of the Industrial Revolution were?’ In Science, we are designing and carrying out an experiment about insulators.  This week we are designing our experiment and will make a prediction about what our result will be.  We will be learning about what a ‘fair test’ means and how we can ensure that our experiment is a fair test.
