Friday 8th January

Please keep reading to find out about today's home learning.

Reading- While learning from home, you should be aiming to read for at least 20 minutes per day. This can be any type of text – fiction book, non-fiction, comic, newspaper, etc. A reading comprehension on ‘The Lost Kitten’ has been included with this blog for you to complete if you wish.

Phonics-  Today we are learning about the ‘ea’ sound. Watch the videos below:

Geraldine the Giraffe ea sound   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L6F4KRdhqak

Now try matching the words and pictures on the worksheet attached to this blog. You could either print the worksheet and cut out the pictures or you could write the words on some paper and draw your own pictures.

English- Today we are going to think about teddy bears and you will be drawing and labelling a picture of your favourite bear. The first teddy bear was made over 100 years ago. You can look at the Powerpoint presentation attached to this blog or watch the YouTube clip below to find out more:

There are lots of famous teddy bears like Paddington Bear, Rupert Bear, Winnie the Pooh, Little Bear
Lost and Baloo Bear. Can you draw a picture of your favourite bear on a sheet of paper and label it? It could be a famous bear, like Paddington Bear or Winnie the Pooh, or it could be your own special bear. An example of a labelled bear is attached to this blog.

Maths- Watch the learning video called ‘Find and make number bonds’.

Now try to complete the ‘Find and make number bonds’ worksheet. We have also attached the answers so you can check and mark your own work.

ICT- In ICT we will begin a programming unit and explore the basic principles of coding. Please log on to purple mash where some 2Dos have been set (‘Fun with Fish’ and ‘Bubbles’). Have a go at completing the tasks. There are hints to help you. You could also click on the computing section of Purple Mash and explore the 2Code App.

A couple of winter activities have also been set on Purple Mash for you to try.
